Course overview
Technical expertise and skills in project management, business strategy and professional communication are equally important for career progression within the engineering sector. The Graduate Certificate of Engineering Management offers a flexible exit pathway for engineers looking to broaden their professional capabilities or transition into leadership and management roles.
You will complete two core units that build essential engineering professional practice skills, including project development, management and implementation, and sustainable development principles. Elective units allow you to tailor your studies to your interests, enabling you to graduate with a recognised qualification or use the course as a pathway to further postgraduate study.

To complete the Graduate Certificate of Engineering Management you must pass 4 credit points and meet the following course rules to be eligible to graduate:
- DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (0-credit-point compulsory unit) in your first study period
- STP710 Career Tools for Employability (0-credit-point compulsory unit)
- SEE700 Safety Induction Program (0-credit-point compulsory unit)
- 2 core units (2 credit points)
- Any 2 units from S787 Master of Engineering Management (Professional) (2 credit points).
Most units are equal to one credit point.
Students are required to meet the University's academic progress and conduct requirements.
