Course overview
The course meets the needs of current human resource practitioners wanting to extend and expand their skills and knowledge with a formal qualification and it also meets the needs of senior management whose duties require them to take on responsibilities in human resources development and management.
Accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute, this is a specialised course designed to provide enhance qualifications for graduates in business, government and industry.
Human resource management is no longer regarded as the sole responsibility of a special department. An understanding of human resource management is now generally a requirement of managers throughout organisations.
This course offers highly industry relevant units in the areas of employment relations, human resource strategy, leadership and management development, in addition to specialist HR functions, together with an elective study option from a key business discipline; such as marketing, management, accounting, economics, finance and information systems.
This human resource management course will also help enhance your existing employment experience in the specialised field of human resources, enabling you to progress to managerial-level positions in human resources.
Indicative student workload
As a student in the Faculty of Business and Law, you can expect to participate in a range of teaching activities each week. This could include online classes and seminars and online interaction. You can refer to the individual unit details in the course structure for more information. You will also need to study and complete assessment tasks in your own time.

The Master of Human Resource Management is accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI). Graduates may be eligible for entry into the AHRI Practising Certification (APC) Program. This may include credits for up to four units completed as part of the Australian Human Resource Institute's APC professional accreditation program.
Graduates of M782 Master of HRM, who have met the requisite work experience requirements will be eligible for direct entry into the Unit 4 Capstone: Applied Project in Organisational Capability of the AHRI Practising Certification (APC) Program. For further enquiries: enquiries@ahri.com.au.

Course rules
The Master of Human Resource Management is typically 8 or 12 credit points. The exact number of credit points you study depends on how much credit you receive as recognition of prior learning (RPL) – your professional experience and previous qualifications – which can save you time and money.
For students undertaking 12 credit points, you study 8 credit points of core units and 4 credit points of elective units (which may include an optional Faculty wide specialisation), plus completion of MAI010 Academic Integrity Module (0-credit point compulsory module). Most units (think of units as 'subjects') are equal to 1 credit point.
Students who wish to enter the AHRI Practising Certification (APC) program are advised that it is their responsibility to ensure that they take the appropriate units required for entry.
