Indicative student workload
As a student in the Faculty of Business and Law, you can expect to participate in a range of teaching activities each week. This could include classes, seminars, practicals and online interaction. Course rules
To complete the Master of Business Administration, students must attain a total of 12 credit points, consisting of 8 credit points of core units and 4 credit points of elective units and may include a specialisation. Most units (think of units as 'subjects') are equal to 1 credit point.
Electives may be selected from an MBA specialisation or from any postgraduate units offered by the University, subject to eligibility.
Students are introduced to research tools and techniques in core units of the course where they learn analytic skills and the practical application of those skills in professional contexts. They must also complete advanced level units and a capstone unit that require them to integrate the skills learnt over their course of study and produce applied pieces of research with reference to prevailing literature.

Offering a combination of theory and practice through guest lectures, site visits and experiential activities, residential units provide a rich and unique learning perspective, and an opportunity to meet fellow managers to develop your professional network. Residentials involve six consecutive days of intensive study where you complete your chosen unit at our award-winning and purpose-built Waurn Ponds Estate in Geelong. By enhancing your MBA in this interactive, face-to-face intensive mode you will achieve a valuable point of difference in the job market.
Study programs immerse you in the culture and customs of international business. Visit leading international companies, talk to global managers, and study at some of the world’s best business schools. Combine the best of three worlds – international business, cultural understanding and gain credit towards your degree.
Deakin Business School offers a range of units in intensive mode. The format can vary across units, for instance, it may involve two blocks of two consecutive days, or full-day classes spread across several weeks.
