Course overview
The Graduate Diploma of Commerce can only be completed as an exit option from the Master of Commerce. The course is made up of 8 credit points of study plus the Academic Integrity Module, MAI010.
Gain real-world business expertise that you can apply to a range of careers or to the management of your own business. Deakin’s Graduate Diploma of Commerce provides a foundation in commerce, contemporary business theory and technology, while also providing opportunities to put this knowledge into practice through hands-on industry experience.
Indicative student workload
As a student in the Faculty of Business and Law, you can expect to participate in a range of teaching activities each week. This could include classes, seminars, practicals and online interaction. You can refer to the individual unit details in the course structure for more information. You will also need to study and complete assessment tasks in your own time.
Participation requirements
Units in this course may have participation requirements that include compulsory placements, work-based training, community-based learning or collaborative research training arrangements.

Mandatory student checks

Fees and charges
Fees and charges vary depending on your course, the type of fee place you hold, your commencement year, the units you choose and your study load.
Tuition fees increase at the beginning of each calendar year and all fees quoted are in Australian dollars ($AUD). Tuition fees do not include textbooks, computer equipment or software, other equipment or costs such as mandatory checks, travel and stationery.

Course rules
To complete the Graduate Diploma of Commerce (exit option only), students must attain a total of 8 credit points, consisting of 4 credit points of course electives, and 4 credit points of general electives, plus completion of the compulsory 0-credit point module, MAI010 Academic Integrity Module.

Elective Units
Students are able to select 4 credit points of general electives which can be chosen from:
- any of the course elective units in Group 1- 4 above not previously studied
- any units listed in the Postgraduate Faculty-wide specialisations
- Work Integrated Learning (WIL) units
- other postgraduate units offered by the University (subject to eligibility)
Work experience
This course provides students the opportunity to complete one or more elective work integrated learning units.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning into the Graduate Diploma of Commerce may be granted to students who have successfully completed appropriate postgraduate studies. There are negotiated Recognition of Prior Learning arrangements in place for CPA members.
