Start your property career by developing essential industry capabilities at Victoria's #1 university for business graduate employment. Target roles in a dynamic sector through postgraduate study with clear pathways to professional valuation practice.

You will build practical skills in property and valuation, including assessing income-producing assets, managing real estate portfolios and supporting property development decisions. Through applied learning experiences and industry-informed teaching, you'll develop the analytical and professional skills needed to understand property markets and support real estate decision-making.

With a pathway into the Graduate Diploma of Property, you can progress toward professional valuation practice and API (Australian Property Institute) membership.

Graduate with the foundational capability to understand property markets, assess value and support property-related decision-making across real estate, valuation and development roles.

Indicative student workload

You can expect to participate in a range of teaching activities each week. This could include lectures, seminars, online interactions, or professional experiences for Work Integrated Learning (WIL) units. You can refer to the individual unit details in the course structure for more information. You will also need to study and complete assessment tasks in your own time.

Employ specialised knowledge apply professional, legal and ethical standards in the fields of property development, investment, property valuation, property management and sustainable construction, in private and commercial real estate markets, both nationally and internationally
Prepare and communicate (orally, visually and in writing) complex property information and analysis to a range of stakeholders including investors, developers, regulators, clients, and colleagues in order that informed decisions may be made
Use a range of advanced digitally based technologies in professional practice and scholarly activities within the property related environment
Critically analyse, evaluate and synthesise complex data and specialist information on property markets and indicators for the planning, design and development of commercial, industrial, retail, residential property and other specialist property, e.g. property for educational purposes
Apply property theories and concepts to evaluate and appraise methodologies to critically identify and develop sustainable solutions and strategies for a diverse range of complex and authentic problems in property industry
Examine and evaluate the ethical, sustainability, economic and global factors that impact the interconnected theories and principles of property development, investment, construction, management, and valuation

Course rules

To complete the Graduate Certificate of Property you must pass 4 credit points. This includes:

  • DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (0-credit-point compulsory unit) in your first study period
  • 4 credit points of core units.

Most units are equal to one credit point.

Students are required to meet the University's academic progress and conduct requirements.
