Course overview

Deakin’s Graduate Certificate of Nutrition for Health equips students with theoretical knowledge of evidence-based practice, nutrition, food and health.

This course will equip students to critically appraise scientific literature, consider social, psychological and cultural factors influencing diets, build skills to collaborate with others, and apply critical thinking regarding nutrition for health.

Graduates will have the knowledge and skills for evidence-based practice in roles such as: allied health assistant, health promotion, or nutrition communications, media and marketing.

Indicative student workload

As a student undertaking a course in the Faculty of Health you will be expected to participate in a range of learning activities each week. You will spend 11-13 hours per unit (i.e., per 1-credit point unit) each week engaging in a combination of practical classes, self-paced study, seminars, online interactions and assessment tasks during the semester teaching periods. In some instances, assessment tasks may also take place outside of the semester teaching periods.

To complete the Graduate Certificate of Nutrition for Health students must attain 4 credit points of core units (these are compulsory).

All commencing Faculty of Health Undergraduate and Postgraduate course work students are required to complete DAI001 Academic Integrity Module (0-credit-point compulsory unit) in their first trimester of study.
