Course overview
Progress your career in tertiary education and enhance your understanding of teaching and learning with Deakin’s Graduate Certificate of Higher Education (Learning and Teaching). You will graduate as an effective educator who meets the learning needs of diverse learners across a range of higher education contexts.
Designed for early career and experienced teachers and academics who wish to consolidate their skills in designing and delivering effective learning programs. You will learn to improve student experience by creating and sustaining digitally enriched, supportive learning environments. You will be supported in developing and implementing effective approaches to feedback, assessment and evaluation, and in engaging in ongoing professional learning. Completing the degree assessments makes Deakin academics eligible for Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). External students can use the assessments as evidence to support an FHEA application (United Kingdom).
Professional recognition
On successful completion of the assessments in the course, Deakin academics will receive a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
For those students/learners who are external to Deakin University, the successful completion of the assessments in the course will provide them with the evidence required to support an application to the United Kingdom Higher Education Academy (UKHEA).

Course rules
To complete the Graduate Certificate of Higher Education (Learning and Teaching) you must pass 4 credit points. This includes:
- DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (0-credit-point compulsory unit) in your first study period
- 4 credit points of core units.
Most units are equal to one credit point. Students are required to meet the University's academic progress and conduct requirements.

Fees and charges
Tuition fees will vary depending on the type of fee place you hold, your course, your commencement year, the units you choose to study, your study load and/or unit discipline.
Your tuition fees will increase annually at the start of each calendar year. All fees quoted are in Australian dollars ($AUD) and do not include additional costs such as textbooks, computer equipment or software, other equipment, mandatory checks, travel, consumables and other costs.
