Course overview
Newly redesigned for 2027, Deakin’s Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business Analytics is for aspiring specialists who want to use data and evidence to drive real business decisions. Study at the top university in the state of Victoria for undergraduate business employment and build strong foundations in accounting, economics, finance and analytics before tailoring your degree through majors, minors and electives.
Develop skills in data visualisation, business intelligence, predictive analytics and artificial intelligence for business while working on real projects using industry-standard tools. With at least 80 hours of work-integrated learning, including internships, consulting projects and social impact programs, you will graduate ready to translate data into strategies that shape business outcomes across sectors such as finance, marketing, operations and consulting.
Indicative student workload
You can expect to participate in a range of teaching activities each week. This could include lectures, seminars, online interactions, or professional experiences for Work Integrated Learning (WIL) units. You can refer to the individual unit details in the course structure for more information. You will also need to study and complete assessment tasks in your own time.
Professional recognition
Completion of the Bachelor of Business Analytics and associated double degree courses grants eligibility for entry as a professional member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

Course rules
To complete the Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business Analytics you must pass 32 credit points. This includes:
- DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (0-credit-point compulsory unit) in your first study period
- 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Commerce
- 8 credit points of core units
- 1 major (8 credit points)
- a minimum of 4 credit points of Faculty of Business and Law units at level 3
- 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Business Analytics
- 14 credit points of core units (excluding MIS171)
- 1 credit point of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) unit or an approved international learning experience
- 1 credit point of open elective units
- a maximum of 12 credit points at level 1 across both courses
- a minimum of 10 credit points at level 3 or above across both courses.
Course requirements for both the Bachelor of Commerce (M380) and Bachelor of Business Analytics (M340) must be satisfied.
Most units are equal to one credit point. As a full-time student you will study four credit points per trimester and usually undertake two trimesters per year.
Students are required to meet the University's academic progress and conduct requirements.

Course duration
You may be able to study available units in the optional third trimester to fast-track your degree, however your course duration may be extended if there are delays in meeting course requirements, such as completing a placement.
Fees and charges
Tuition fees will vary depending on the type of fee place you hold, your course, your commencement year, the units you choose to study, your study load and/or unit discipline.
Your tuition fees will increase annually at the start of each calendar year. All fees quoted are in Australian dollars ($AUD) and do not include additional costs such as textbooks, computer equipment or software, other equipment, mandatory checks, travel, consumables and other costs.
