* Students are able to commence this course at either Burwood (Melbourne) or Waterfront (Geelong). 

Delivery is at both campuses and students will be required to undertake units of study from both the Geelong Waterfront Campus and the Melbourne Burwood Campus. Students should seek advice from their course advisor prior to the commencement of their course.

This course is not available to international students.

The construction management component of this course provides you with a well-rounded set of skills that can be applied in a range of practical settings. Topics you’ll cover will include:

The property and real estate component will focus on the business of real estate, including:

You will have the option to commence this combined degree at our campuses in Burwood or Geelong Waterfront. All property and real estate units are available online in addition to a range of construction management units. Online study is a perfect complement to campus-based learning.

Indicative student workload

You can expect to participate in a range of teaching activities each week. This could include classes, seminars, workshops, site visits and online interaction. Professional recognition

Both single degree courses are professionally accredited by multiple professional bodies including the:

  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • Australian Institute of Building (AIB)
  • Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
  • Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS)
  • Australian Property Institution (API) for Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) status.

This course is professionally accredited by industry. As a graduate you will have completed the academic requirements for membership of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB), the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

As a graduate you will also receive professional accreditation by the Australian Property Institute and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. In addition, you will meet the academic requirements for membership as a Certified Practising Valuer.

Participation requirements

Elective units may be selected that may include compulsory placement, study tours, work-based training or collaborative research training arrangements.

Fees and charges

Tuition fees increase at the beginning of each calendar year and all fees quoted are in Australian dollars ($AUD). Tuition fees do not include textbooks, computer equipment or software, other equipment or costs such as photocopying or travel.

Course rules

To complete the Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours)/Bachelor of Property and Real Estate, students must attain 40 credit points.

Course requirements for both the Bachelor of Property and Real Estate (M348) and the Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) (S346) must be satisfied.

The course comprises a total of 40 credit points, which must include the following:

  • Thirty-seven (37) core units (38 credit points), including 16 core units from the Bachelor of Property and Real Estate, and 21 core units (22 credit points) from the Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours)
  • Two (2) credit points of electives
  • Completion of SRA010 Safety Induction Program (0-credit point compulsory unit)
  • Completion of STP050 Academic Integrity (0-credit point compulsory unit)
  • Note – students will be precluded from the following two core Property and Real Estate units in the single degree course structure:
    • SRT112 Sustainable Construction
    • SRT214 Commercial Property Construction Studies
