Content
The unit aims to familiarise students with the law relating to the creation and transfer of rights and interests in land. It is designed to provide a thorough grounding in the statutory schemes of registration applicable in Victoria. Topics include: the definition of land and limits of ownership; legal and equitable interests; legal and equitable remedies; purchasing and selling land; Deeds Registration system and priorities in general land law; Torrens system of land registration and electronic conveyancing, indefeasibility of title; statutory and non-statutory exceptions to indefeasibility of title; disputes involving unregistered interests; paramount interests; assurance fund and concurrent ownership of land.
