Content
This unit provides students with an authentic experience of working as a consultant. Students experience the processes and identify skills required to be a consultant in a business environment. Students develop their skills in liaising with external stakeholders and identifying, understanding and making recommendations responding to real-world business problems. By undertaking this unit, students develop their problem solving, self-management, teamwork and interpersonal skills and critically reflect upon their experience, relevant graduate attributes and employability competencies through a progressive assessment process.

| Assessment 1 – (Portfolio) Learning Portfolio designed around the WIL experience
A learning portfolio is comprised of a range of different assessment tasks. In this unit the portfolio consists of 4 assessment tasks, a team report and presentation to the client, an individual supervisor’s evaluation and an individual post placement skills and employability development report. Specific task details are available on the unit CloudDeakin site. The group-based tasks do not constitute more than 50% of the overall assessment for the unit. | equivalent to 4,000 words | 100% | Various submissions are due over the course of the program – dates to be advised. |
The assessment due weeks provided may change. The Unit Chair will clarify the exact assessment requirements, including the due date, at the start of the teaching period.
Hurdle requirement
1. Students must successfully complete the WIL pre-placement modules before they can attain access to the unit dropboxes.
2. Achieve at least 50% of the marks available on the portfolio task that requires reflection on the ULOs to evidence a minimum proficiency.
3. Students must attend all scheduled sessions.
