Content
This hands-on unit is specially crafted to equip you with a deep understanding of the careers that require the application of skills you have acquired through your psychology degree. Whether you're completing a three-year Bachelor's degree or a four-year Honours or equivalent, this unit will focus on unveiling the most relevant career pathways for you.
The unit is designed to explore the key theoretical concepts of organisational psychology and their relation to work and employment. The unit will cover three main areas that will broaden your knowledge.
Firstly, you will be exposed to the numerous employment and career advancement options available within the field of psychology and its related occupations. Gain a deeper insight into your own interests, values, aptitudes, and personality traits, and critically evaluate this information to identify relevant and meaningful career and employment opportunities.
Secondly, this unit will enhance your understanding of relevant workplace issues, including workplace wellbeing, health and safety, workplace culture, communication, and teamwork, in an organisational context. With this knowledge, you will be equipped to make informed decisions and effectively navigate workplace environments.
Lastly, you will develop and refine your job-seeking skills, improving your success when applying, interviewing, and marketing yourself to potential employers. This involves the integration of concepts explored and identified throughout the unit, including potential career options, transferrable skills, strengths and development areas, and course learning outcomes.
