Educator-facilitated (scheduled) learning activities - on-campus unit enrolment: | 5 x 1 hour on-campus seminar in weeks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 Off-site: A minimum of 60 hours of practical (placement) experience with an organisation of your choosing, to undertake coaching and/or sport development related activities. As part of the placement experience, an additional 60 hours will be dedicated to a 'personal project' that will be developed with the host practicum supervisor. |
Typical study commitment: | Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit. This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site. |

Note for all students enrolling into this unit: You must complete your placement hours within your trimester of enrolment of the placement unit, unless otherwise stated directly by the Unit Chair. If you are not able to complete the placement by the end your trimester of enrolment in the placement unit, please email the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences Professional Placement Office at ens-placements@deakin.edu.au as soon as possible. Note for International Students Only: If you are not able to complete your placement by your visa expiry date, please note that you will be liable for any costs involved with extending your stay in Australia, for example: visa extension application cost and extra living expenses.’ This unit has mandatory on campus attendance requirements, therefore students must be in Australia when enrolled in this unit. |
Content
Over five seminars, students will explore topics pertinent to their practicum placements and career planning. These seminars will ensure support is throughout students' practicum experience and cover essential aspects such as resume development, job application preparation, and creating an online profile.

Unit Fee Information
Fees and charges vary depending on the type of fee place you hold, your course, your commencement year, the units you choose to study and their study discipline, and your study load.
