Content
This unit is designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system and how it relates to normal and abnormal human movement. A detailed analysis of the functional anatomy of the skeletal, articular, neural and muscular systems is explored. Additional areas explored will be the role that the musculoskeletal system plays in static and dynamic posture and movement control.
Learning Outcomes
ULO | These are the Unit Learning Outcomes (ULOs) for this unit. At the completion of this unit, successful students can: | Alignment to Deakin Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs) |
---|---|---|
ULO1 | Apply appropriate anatomical language and terminology to the human musculoskeletal system. | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities |
ULO2 | Identify the components of the musculoskeletal system and their key parts and describe the operation of the musculoskeletal system. | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities |
ULO3 | Describe the role of the skeletal and muscular systems during static and dynamic postures. | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities |
ULO4 | Determine the influence of posture and alignment on normal human movement. | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities |
ULO5 | Relate aspects of joint structure and muscle contraction to movement. | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities |
ULO6 | Evaluate the joint movements and muscle actions that occur during functional activities. | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities |
ULO7 | Describe the major nerves that innervate the upper and lower limb. | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities |
