Content
In this unit you will be required to develop and engage with indigenous perspectives on design through drawings and other representational means as a text, verbal and/or visual language which reveals design intentions and visions. Through the introduction of methodologies, the unit will present you with methods to be and act critically, unravelling the dynamics between thinking and drawing as a circular and continuous process. This unit considers contemporary engagements and relationships with Australian and international Indigenous communities in design and planning practice and projects. Exemplar projects are analysed to enable you to develop an understanding of the richness of visual language and complexity of design thinking in architecture. The unit complements the first master studio by introducing analytical skills, contextualising the design thinking, and strengthening the connection between architectural thinking and drawing from the perspective of an indigenous knowledge base.
