6 x 1 hour seminar (weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11).

Students are expected to maintain a minimum of fortnightly contact with their academic supervisor either face-to-face or online. Students will attend the oral presentation on a single scheduled day during the trimester as detailed in the unit site.

Typical study commitment

Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Content

As a mature practice engineer, you will be expected to take responsibility for engineering projects and programs in the most far-reaching sense. An engineers’ task is to determine, and at the same time interpret through thorough comprehension, the constraints on a specific design and achieve results within the finance capacity available. In SEN710 you will develop skills to clearly define a problem, scope a project and anticipated outcomes, and justify the feasibility of your approach to solving the problem, while demonstrating concern for stakeholder requirements, safety, risk and ethical practice. Working as a team, and with guidance from a supervisor, you will develop a detailed plan for implementing and evaluating the project progress and outcomes at various stages. The project proposal developed during SEN710, will be implemented in the subsequent unit SEN720 Project Implementation and Evaluation.
