Content
In this unit students will explore leadership as a socially constructed collaborative relational experience focusing on the interactions and constructions of sport management personnel, both paid and voluntary. This multi-level systems approach aims to facilitate an integrated understanding of leadership and governance. Students will examine leadership in various contexts with a focus on sport for development, in national sport organisations and professional sport clubs, and leadership in non-Western contexts shared leadership, authentic leadership, servant leadership, gendered leadership and collective leadership. Collective board leadership will be used to transition from executive leadership to board leadership in the context of identifying the key functions of directors and boards when discharging their strategic, compliance, performance oversight, and fiduciary responsibilities in the governance process.
