Typical study commitment:

Students will spend on average 150 hours over the trimester undertaking synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning activities for this unit.

This will include 18 hours synchronous learning activities and 18 hours of guided asynchronous learning activities.

Content

This unit forms part of the Critical Understandings Cluster. Evidence-based practice is a major component of quality care delivery and the ability to appraise evidence from all sources is a critical skillset for nurses, informing clinical decision-making.

Students will develop an understanding of the principles of conducting research, evaluating existing research and ways of appraising evidence to inform clinical practice.

In this unit students will develop digital skills by utilising technology and health informatics to acquire, appraise and apply research evidence from relevant databases.
