Content

This unit aims to develop student self-awareness and confidence in authentic engineering practice, through career planning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to enhance employability in preparation for graduation. Through critical self-reflection, students will conduct an employability audit to identify gaps between their current skills and experiences compared to employer needs and expectations. These gaps will help students to focus where they need to coordinate engagement in a range of CPD activities. These CPD experiences aim to enhance targeted personal and professional skills and support further reflection on employability and lifelong professional development. Students will then use reflective practices to evidence their learning and capabilities via the completion of job application process, that exposes the student to an authentic recruitment process prior to graduation, as preparation for transition to employment.

For Master of Engineering courses, this unit is alternative core unit to SEL703 - Professional Practice - in which students undertake a placement-based WIL experience within industry/community.
