Students will on average spend 150-hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.
This unit explores the challenges and opportunities of engaging with Asian contexts, with a focus on East and South-East Asian countries. The unit examines how language, communication styles, and cultural contexts influence professional interactions, including workplace communication, business negotiation, and cross-cultural engagement. Drawing on authentic materials and case studies, students develop practical skills in interpreting meaning, adapting communication strategies, and managing intercultural communication in professional settings, preparing them for work in business, trade, and regional collaboration. This unit is ideal for students interested in building the communication and cultural competencies needed to work effectively in Asia focused professional environments.
